Facts about Coursera checked on its public Coursera Plus page in October 2026. Prices vary by region and promotion and could not be reliably confirmed, so we do not quote them; see coursera.org. FormulaCamp is not affiliated with Coursera.
TL;DR
- Choose FormulaCamp if you want Excel-only, hands-on practice in the browser with instant checking.
- Choose Coursera if you want a recognized credential, a university- or company-backed program (for example a Professional Certificate), or a wider learning path in which Excel is one piece.
Who each is best for
Coursera is best for learners who need credentials and structure from known institutions. Its Coursera Plus page lists Professional Certificates such as Google Data Analytics, Google IT Support, IBM Data Science and Intuit Academy Bookkeeping, a 7-day free trial and mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play. Excel appears in many courses and programs there, usually as part of a bigger topic like data analysis or finance, delivered mostly through lectures and assignments.
FormulaCamp is best for people who want to get fluent in Excel itself. Short theory, then tasks in a live in-browser spreadsheet that auto-checks every answer; optional .xlsx tasks for desktop Excel with upload-back checking. 170 lessons in 16 tracks from Beginner to Expert, covering formulas, lookups, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot/DAX, statistics, VBA, Office Scripts and Python in Excel. 180-function reference, English and Russian.
Where Coursera is better: brand and certificates (important for resumes and some employers), institutional backing, mobile apps, video lectures, and breadth beyond Excel. FormulaCamp has no video, no mobile app and no community yet, and its certificate is self-issued (not verified by a third party).
Where FormulaCamp is better: focus and practice. Instead of searching Coursera for the right Excel course among many, you follow one Excel path where every task is checked immediately. You can also start free without a trial clock.

Pricing (as of October 2026)
FormulaCamp Pro: $7.99 per month or $49 per year; Beginner level, the first hands-on lesson of every other track and all theory are free.
Coursera: offers the Coursera Plus subscription (monthly or annual, with a 7-day trial) alongside individual courses and programs. Prices differ by region and promotion, and our checks gave figures that did not match earlier sources, so check coursera.org for the current price. A subscription covers a very large catalog, not only Excel.
FAQ
Is Coursera or FormulaCamp better for getting a certificate?
Coursera, today. FormulaCamp issues a self-issued certificate of completion for each finished track, but it is not verified by a third party, so it carries less weight with employers.
Which is better for learning Excel formulas from scratch?
If you want to type and check formulas right away, FormulaCamp. If you want a lecture-style university course, Coursera.
Will an Excel course on Coursera be hands-on in a spreadsheet?
It depends on the course. Check each course page for how exercises work.
Can I use both?
Yes: Coursera for a credentialed program, FormulaCamp for daily Excel practice.
