5. INT, MOD, QUOTIENT

Lesson 5 of 25
Task 1 of 3
  1. In C2:C6, calculate how many full boxes you get (the box size is in H1).

Lesson theory
  • =QUOTIENT(50,12) gives 4: how many times 12 fits into 50 completely;
  • =MOD(50,12) gives 2: what is left over;
  • =INT(4.7) gives 4: drops the fractional part (for negative numbers it rounds down: −4.7 becomes −5);
  • =TRUNC(-4.7) gives −4: simply cuts off the fraction.

A classic task is packing: how many full boxes, how many items are left over, and how many boxes you need in total.
